Farmstead artisan cheese and dairy from the Jura mountains, France. Comté AOP, Morbier, fresh chèvre, crème fraîche, and cave-aged specialties. Order online, subscribe, or visit our fromageries.

Vallée Dorée — meaning Golden Valley in French — is a concept premium artisan cheese and dairy brand headquartered in Comté country, Franche-Comté, France — the most decorated cheese-producing region on earth, home to Comté AOP, Morbier AOP, Mont d’Or AOP, and Bleu de Gex AOP, where the Montbéliarde cattle have grazed the same flower-rich alpine meadows for four hundred years and where the affinage tradition produces flavour complexity that no industrial process can replicate.

Founded by master affineur and cheesemaker Isabelle Pernet, trained at the Institut National de l’Origine et de la Qualité and with twelve years of experience working in the caves of Comté cooperatives in Poligny, the brand produces twenty-four cheese and dairy varieties across four product lines — aged hard cheeses, fresh soft cheeses, cultured dairy products, and a seasonal small-batch cave-aged series — produced at a 2,200sqm farmstead creamery on a working farm in the Jura mountains, sold through three retail fromageries in Besançon, Paris, and London, a global e-commerce platform, a cheese subscription service, and a wholesale channel serving premium hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants, and specialty food retailers across Europe, the USA, and the UAE.

Before — The Problem

Isabelle had spent six years building her herd, her creamery, and her affinage programme. Her eighteen-month Comté won a Concours Général Agricole silver medal. Her Morbier was being aged in a cave carved by her grandfather. Her crème fraîche was being described by every chef who tasted it as the finest in the region.

Three conversations with London specialty retailers ended the same way: extraordinary product, but the brand is not ready for our shelves.

The packaging was a generic white label with a handwritten sticker. The photography was phone pictures taken in the cave. No website. No trade catalogue. No food safety documentation accessible to buyers. No social presence. The medal sat in a drawer.

The cheese was ready. Everything else was not.

After — The Outcome

A complete premium cheese and dairy brand ecosystem — visual identity, product packaging across all SKUs, fromagerie retail design direction, creamery facility branding, global e-commerce, subscription service, wholesale trade programme, social media strategy, Google Ads, international SEO, and GEO optimisation.

Within eleven months: listed at La Grande Épicerie de Paris, Selfridges London, three Michelin-starred restaurant groups in Paris and London, two five-star hotel cheese boards in Switzerland and the UAE. The subscription service reached 3,100 active global subscribers. Instagram reached 78,000 followers. Press features in The Financial Times Weekend, Bon Appétit, and four French food publications. The Besançon fromagerie became the highest-reviewed cheese shop in the region.

The cheese hadn’t changed. The world’s ability to find it, trust it, and buy it repeatedly had been built from scratch.

Brand Concept — Aged in the Mountain. Honest to the Milk.

The positioning is built on one irreducible truth about great cheese — everything starts with the milk, and the milk starts with what the animal eats. A Montbéliarde cow grazing flower-rich Jura mountain pastures produces milk with a fat profile, a mineral complexity, and a seasonal variation that cannot be manufactured. The affinage is the revelation of what the milk already contains.

That chain — from meadow to milk to curd to cave to plate — is the brand’s primary trust and differentiation mechanism, made visible through photography that shows the farm, the herd, the creamery, and the cave, and copy that names the specific meadow, the specific animal breed, and the specific cave conditions for every product.

Palette: warm alpine green, aged parchment, deep cave charcoal, and burnished gold. Typography: a warm traditional French serif for the brand name and display, a clean humanist sans-serif for product descriptions and digital. The visual language is deeply rooted in French agricultural heritage while being completely contemporary in execution.

Isabelle’s Concours Général Agricole silver medal sat in a drawer for three years. Not because the cheese wasn’t exceptional. Because nobody knew the cheese existed. The brand, the packaging, the photography, the website, the Instagram account — all of it exists to answer one question before the first bite: is this worth the price? For Vallée Dorée, every touchpoint now answers yes before the wax paper is even opened. That is what brand and digital infrastructure does for an artisan food producer. It does not change the cheese. It ensures the cheese is found by the people who deserve to eat it.
